Voice Wlan Module

Currently, Voip systems have become the norm in residential as well as in businesses. With Voip the combination of data and voice networks have become possible through a network which is unified. This type of system allows home users and network administrators to reduce costs significantly. The latest development in Voip systems is the introduction of modems or gateways where Voip can be implemented.

The present design of gateways or Voip Wlan modules allowed the data WLAN connectivity on several devices such as printers and Voip phones. The only concern is the security on the Voip Wlan module. Even with a basic internet connection, WLAN can be illegally accessed and if this is a problem with internet connection, there are more challenges with a Voip Wlan module.

To resolve this, the 802.11i standard was released. This is an enhanced MAC-layer version which allows support for authentication and packet security. The older 802.11 standard was based upon the WEP protocol which does not have a two way authentication system therefore making it an easy target for hackers. On the other hand, the Voip Wlan module that adheres to the 802.11i standard has better security because it provides a way for current modules to be software upgraded. Moreover, a new security network is applied in Voip systems called RSN, though may require hardware upgrades in gateways, but is considered a stronger security measure.

If people are moving on to Voip systems, this is due to the reduced costs that go with these systems and regarding the security challenges with Voip Wlan modules, these are being addressed effectively.
